Who we are

We are friends, filmmakers, storytellers. We met in a podcasting class. Iris was our teacher.

Iris Adler

I am a former reporter, news director, and executive director for programming and podcasts at WBUR Radio in Boston. I created WBUR’s Innovation Lab and oversaw new programming initiatives, including the station’s original podcasts. As executive editor at NECN, I developed a nationally recognized documentary unit, serving as producer and reporter for a range of documentaries. I have won numerous regional and national awards for TV and radio reporting.

Sarah Baker

I have been in the storytelling business for decades as a writer, a book and magazine editor, and a radio producer. I love digging in to uncover what makes a person that person, an dea that idea. What’s the background? What’s the context? And then I love figuring out how to tell the story, what to keep, and what to ditch. I love documentary filmmaking because it allows me to step more fully into these worlds, as the storytelling has so many layers.

Danielle Mannion

I love storytelling in any form. I am a TV/Film/Podcast educator turned Emmy® nominated filmmaker. I have worked on big budget and small independent films but my favorite projects are documentaries. I love stories about everyday people doing unusual and extraordinary things. Documentaries have a unique power to shed light on remarkable stories and individuals, offering audiences a glimpse into worlds they may not have otherwise encountered.

Susan Young

After working for many years as a writer and photographer, I turned on my camera’s video settings. Now that I am a filmmaker, I’m not sure what took me so long. Combining my interest in images and story is a natural evolution. I am someone who tries to understand what makes people tick, who gets excited about other people’s excitement, and who wants to find common ground through documentary storytelling.
